This picture was taken by Kevin Carter during his visit to southern Sudan in 1993. The girl in this photo was struggling to reach the refugee camp, and was stopped to rest because of extreme starvation. The vulture waiting nearby is getting ready for a meal. This picture opened the eyes of the world to help Sudan during the famine.
This photo won the Pulitzer prize in 1994. But before that Kevin Carter comminted suicide because of the depression from seing this extreme sad situation.
